ByGuy Bodger

Millions of people across the world suffer from short to long term back pain or injury, with some sufferers experiencing constant pain and others suffering temporary pain which can last for a few days or weeks.

Although there are various pain killers and pain soothing medicines that you can take for back pain, there is little in the way of treatment that can successfully cure a bad back. Often, bad backs occur due to a new or existing injury and quite often the only thing that you can do to help the back mend and therefore lose the pain is just relax, because movement can often aggravate the injury further.

There are no operations or medical procedures that can mend a bad back, but there are things that you can do if you are suffering with a bad back to not only help with the pain but to also help the back muscles mend and therefore perform better.

Exercise / Stretches - Even though you should never push yourself too far, there is medical evidence that some kind of exercise and stretches can actually help to heal a bad or damaged back and increase its strength. It is crucial that you do seek medical or professional advice when it comes to exercising because you could end up making your back even worse if you go a little bit more aggressively than you should.

Yoga - Yoga can help to increase flexibility and the strength of your muscles, which ties in to the above point of stretching and exercise. Therefore, a good yoga plan or class can really help to improve your back and heal the muscles, but as we mention above, make sure you do seek the correct professional advice before taking up yoga.

Bedding - There are some products that are magnetic therapy products that use magnet therapy to help reduce pain from conditions such as bad backs and arthritis. Although there are few medical declarations that magnet therapy is a suitable treatment, there are many people all over the world that are living proof that it can indeed work and help to reduce pain.

Posture / Lifting - If you do have a bad back then one of the first things you need to do is actually look at your day to day posture and how you lift things for example. If you are sitting in an office all day then you need to make sure that your chair is suitable and that you take regular breaks and if you are moving things around then make sure you follow suitable health and safety procedures.

Before following any advice given in this article, it is always important that you should check with a doctor first, because not every solution or piece of advice will work for everyone.
